Developments in neurobiology have highlighted the close relationship between physical and mental health. Healthy minds and bodies are inextricably linked. Yet, because of social stigma that sometimes accompanies mental/behavioral health care, employees who need such care may not have easy access. Although benefit coverage may look good on paper, lack of network providers as well as unfamiliarity with appropriate pathways of mental/behavioral health care can be impediments to securing them.
As social and professional pressures mount for educators, it is in the interest of public employers and employees to ramp up communication about this critical bandwidth of health care. Employer efforts to facilitate easy access by their employees to sound mental/behavioral health care services is a way to lower overall health plan costs, as well as recruit and retain good employees.
Join us for a discussion of how school districts can highlight the importance of mental/behavioral health services within a primary care setting exclusive to their employees.
