Speaker Bio
Kurt P. Rebovich Jr. is an innovative leader and strategic thinker.

He has been with the New Jersey School Boards Association since 2012, when he joined as the county activities coordinator for the northern part of the state. In this role, along with his counterpart in the southern region, Marcia Lavigne, he re-invigorated county school board association meetings by collaborating with county school board leadership and developing training programs relevant to the individual counties. This approach led to a measurable increase in county meeting engagement and participation.

In July 2015, Rebovich became labor relations manager in NJSBA’s Legal, Labor Relations, & Policy Services Department. Over the course of six years, he was involved in delivering such services as contract analyses, preparing for bargaining seminars, analysis and preparation of proposed salary guides for school boards, and providing information to school board members, school district personnel, school board attorneys, and colleagues on several legal and labor relations matters.

More recently, Rebovich has taken on a newly created role at NJSBA as the senior manager of strategic operations. In this role he is responsible for leading direct strategy throughout the organization by achieving positive financial results; developing and growing training and non-training programs and initiatives such as new revenue/funding sources; increasing current revenue generative activities; and creating other strategic projects and priorities.

Rebovich co-authored Collective Negotiations (2022 Edition), is a subject area author of Basic School Law: 2019 Edition, and is the author of such School Leader magazine articles as: Legally Speaking: Employee Leave During the Pandemic; Labor Lookout: New Jersey’s New Minimum Wage Law; Everything Regarding Salaries is Negotiable, and How to Prepare for Bargaining.

He graduated from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey with a B.A. in labor studies and employment relations, from Thomas Edison State University with a B.S. and a master’s degree in business administration and management, and a master’s certificate of human resources from Cornell University. He is certified as a business administrator/chief financial officer for New Jersey public schools, grades preK-12.

He is a former school board member on the Perth Amboy Board of Education and is currently a 13-year Perth Amboy City municipal planning board member, and vice president of the New Jersey Labor and Employment Relations Association; an organization comprised of members of the employment relations and human resource management field.
